Creating a horse with good manners part 6

Once you’ve completed part 5 (be very repetitive) and you have your rider up and sitting on the horse you should be able to lead the horse around on the circle .

The horse Should be calm ,not invading your space and respecting you as a trainer then you will eventually unhook the lunge line and have The Horse walk next to you calmly .

You should do this several times, just hooking up the lunge line or lead rope ,and then unhooking it.

Be very quiet about it so that the horse doesn’t notice that you have let the rider go.

The sidereins should be removed at this point so as to not jeopardize the rider’s safety.

You may also do this for the first trot steps but only if you can jog fast enough beside him to keep up !

Larger horses and faster moving horses should be lead by a mounted rider/trainer on a well trained Quiet horse.

We will discuss this in our next chapter.
