Horse Dental Work

To maintain a good condition on your horse his teeth need to be checked at least once a year using an experienced Equine Dentist and /or a Veterinarian.

Horses teeth grow and get sharp and need to be filed down. This is called floating.

Most horses need to have at least an annual check up and sometimes biannually .

There are many other reasons why a horses mouth should be examined.Young horses grow wolf teeth which need to be removed before they are bridled or have a bit put in their mouth. This can cause major problems with pinching and detract from any training that you are trying to do.

The Speculum (horse is unsedated )

Safety is a concern .

Sometimes your horse may need sedation but this should be determined by your vet or dentist .

Sharp or rotten teeth can cause health concerns and lack of ability to chew hay properly for digestion.

This is known as quidding and you will see balls of hay that are spat out in the stall .

Good horse dental management leads to a happy and healthy horse !
