Many bridles are sold with the nose band and crown pieces sewn together at the top.
If you have one of these please make sure that the bit is resting evenly in the horse’s mouth.
I’ve been noticing that sometimes there is a fault in the placement of the crown piece when it is manufactured and stitched together at the factory .
This will result in having the bit placed unevenly in the horses mouth.
In order to amend this ….
.
Stand in front of your horse and look to make sure that the bit is not pulling up on the corners of the lips on one side more than the other.
So instead of counting the holes , look at your bit once you put it in the horses mouth and adjust the cheek pieces accordingly.
You may end up with your cheek piece several holes lower on one side than the other.
Ideally (but not necessary) you can take your bridle to the tack shop and have it repaired so that your cheek pieces will be able to be used on the same holes on each side .
For the horses’ sake please don’t ride with the bit uneven in his mouth!
