When the temperature dips and then rises if your horses are blanketed please pay attention to taking the blankets off and making sure that the horses are not overheating.
If you’re not sure whether to use a blanket or sheet it’s better to err on the side of your horse being a little cooler .
There is a risk of colic if they are caused to sweat and thereby dehydrate.
Sheets can be used instead of blankets to keep the horses clean but not if the temperature is above 55 degrees F. or sunny and 50 F.
Check your horse by putting a hand on the middle front of his chest and leave it there for a few seconds.
It should not feel hot to the touch .
