Horses require more care in the hot weather.
Horses breathe through their skin, so the skin must be kept clean and unclogged with dirt and sweat.
High humidity can create a health problem when we have hot temperatures as well.
Horses should be washed with medicated products to prevent skin rashes and rain rot.

Removing the the sweat will help to prevent the horse from overheating.
If your horse is very hot and breathing heavily go slow with a cold hose and then use a sweat scraper.
Repeat this process several times until the horse cools down .
Do not leave the hot water on the horse as it will actually cause the horse to overheat!
Continue to hose him off until the water runs clear to prevent shampoos or sweat from clogging the skin pores.
Make sure your fans are working well in the stables and check on your horses more often in the hot weather.
