Grooming

When horses starting to change their winter or summer coat there are many things that you need to know about shedding the horse out properly.

You need some basic items in your grooming kit.

A shedding blade or a metal curry

A rubber curry comb

and sturdy brush (not too stiff)

A jelly curry on sensitive horses

You will also need a cloth or old towel

To keep your brush clean use the shedding blade to clean out your brush as you brush gently in the direction of the hair .

So one in each hand .

Do not use the sharp side of the blade on the bony parts of the horse and watch the horses reaction !

If your horse protests go more gently and pick a softer brush .

You and your horse should take time and enjoy the moment !

Finish with the cloth

Make sure to clean your brushes before storing away by using the metal curry comb or shedding blade .
